Nike Golf was kind enough to send me a pair of solar sleeves to try out on the golf course. They’re basically just two fitted sleeves you slip on your arms that come just below your armpits. It looks like you’re wearing a long sleeve dri-fit shirt under your golf shirt. I actually had not seen these before but I was told they are great for the summer so I gave them a try. If you’re like me you are probably wondering why a tight fitting long sleeve would be good in the summer time…
Turns out Nike’s R&D department knows what they’re talking about and frankly it’s amazing how much technology can go into a shirt (or sleeves in this case). The high-performance microfiber polyester fabric wicks moisture away from your skin and toward the fabric surface, where it evaporates, helping you stay dry and comfortable, even in the blazing summer heat. The unique fabric construction also provides minimum UPF 30 ultraviolet protection - a really nice feature for those that burn easily or maybe senior golfers who are concerned about sun exposure.
