Woods Struggles Again
Tiger Woods was 2-under through 8 holes today starting on the back nine at the BMW Championship and was looking poised to make a move up the stagnant leaderboard. Unfortunately for Tiger his wedge game abandoned him and he limped home with a (+1) 72, which leaves him at +3 for the tournament, currently in a tie for 46th, 10 strokes behind the leader.
There is no cut at this week’s FedEx...

Another Miserable Start for Tiger
Tiger has once again dug himself a big hole at the start of a playoff round. Tiger just took a double bogey six on the par-4 first hole at the BMW Championship.
A weak push off the tee left him well over 200 yards in from the rough, which he left well left and short into a greenside bunker. He blasted into the rough and then chipped safely on to the green from there before missing a four-footer...

Sour Grapes for JB Holmes
A few quotes from J.B. Holmes after not receiving a captain’s pick for the U.S. Ryder Cup team:
“I’ve played good all year,” Holmes said. “I had a bunch of top-20 finishes and some top 10s. I’ve only missed two cuts. It’s been a good year for me, so it’s disappointing.”
“As many rookies as are on the team this year, and with it looking like Corey Pavin was going for more experience, I...

Mickelson Misses 2nd Straight Pro-Am
Phil Mickelson missed his second consecutive pro-am by skipping yesterday’s event at the BMW Championship. This time it was at the request of the sponsor.
Mickelson decided to skip the pro-am at last week’s Deutsche Bank Championship to spend more time at home practicing, and instead went to a Deutsche Bank dinner party on Saturday in the clubhouse.

Players Grumbling About BMW Greens
A few players are already grumbling about the greens at this week’s BMW Championship at Cog Hill’s Dubbs Dread course, the third leg of the PGA TOUR playoffs.
Matt Kuchar, who is #1 on the FedExCup points list and won the 1997 U-S Amateur on the same course before Rees Jones’ renovation in 2008, said that Jones’ work on the green complexes made the course...

Fowler Not a Reach
For those that think the Rickie Fowler captain’s pick by Corey Pavin was a reach, think again. We stated on Monday night why Fowler had the edge for the final pick and we think Pavin got it right.
Fowler is currently ranked 33rd in the world, two spots ahead of Stewart Cink and 14 spots clear of automatic qualifier Jeff Overton.
Here are a few other rankings of prominent U.S. players that...

FedEx Cup Playoffs Get Interesting This Week
As we enter the third leg of the PGA TOUR FedEx Cup this week, the playoffs should get much more interesting. So far, the fields have been trimmed from 125 to 100 and then to 70, with very few marquee players having been eliminated. That will change this week at the BMW Championships when the playoff field is cut from 70 down to 30 for the playoffs final leg, the TOUR Championship.
Here is how...

Our Final Thoughts on the Ryder Cup Picks
After much speculation, tomorrow morning at 10:30am Corey Pavin will make his four captain’s selections to round out the U.S. Ryder Cup squad.
Due to their experience and solid play over the last few weeks, it seems to be pretty much a given at this point that Tiger Woods, Zach Johnson and Stewart Cink will get three of those selections. The fourth one is a real toss-up, and honestly I...
